Disclaimer

The Ordo Militum Christi et Templari Hierosolyma® (OMCTH) is an independent entity and is not affiliated, associated, or connected in any way with OMCTH CIC or any other organization, group, or representation operating under similar names on online platforms or social media. OMCTH does not endorse, support, or participate in any digital content, communications, or activities conducted by such entities. Any references to OMCTH outside of its official channels should be considered unauthorised and do not reflect the values, ethos, or identity of the Order.

Furthermore, OMCTH maintains no association—formal or informal—with any political movements, parties, or ideologies, including but not limited to right-wing templar groups or politically motivated organizations claiming chivalric lineage. The Order's mission remains rooted in symbolic tradition, ceremonial integrity, and the preservation of heritage free from partisan influence.

The Orders Ethos

OMCTH is a Christian Order, and as such we defend the Christian Faith. However, it must be noted that we have no agenda against any other religion or those who practice other Faiths. Our values of Chivalry and Patriotism must not be confused with Nationalism. Each Templar Order will have it’s own ethos, and it is important to be clear before applying that it matches with your own. OMCTH believes in Human Rights and Dignity as defined in legislation and enshrined in the laws of England and Wales, and will not tolerate any acts that seek to disenfranchise any and all persons. The commandment to "Love one another as I have loved you" (John 13:34) is central to our brotherhood.

OMCTH and Gnosticism

A popular myth that the Templars were Gnostic is the basis of several modern Templar groups. However, the core beliefs of Gnosticism contradict fundamental Christian doctrines.

The belief that the material world is evil and created by an inferior God, the denial of Christ as God incarnate and the resurrection, and the assertion that salvation comes from secret, inner knowledge rather than through faith in Christ is in opposition to the teachings of the Church.

There is NO evidence to suggest that the Templars were Gnostic.

St. Bernard of Clairvaux, who was a major figure in their early development, was known for his strong condemnation of heretical movements, including the Cathar heresy. His theological views were the opposite of gnosticism. As a modern Order based upon the Rule of St.Bernard, OMCTH follow the canon of the Holy Catholic and Apostolic church as defined in the Nicene Creed.

From Pilgrim to Templar

Once your application form has been received, it will be circulated to Chapter, who will consider carefully whether we will be a good fit for each other. You will also be contacted by a senior Officer of the Order to arrange a one to one phone call. Your information is confidential under GDPR rules, and should you be unsuccessful, your personal information will be destroyed and an explanation of the decision will be offered.

Should you be successful, you will be welcomed into the Order as a Pilgrim and invited to attend the next meeting, where you have the opportunity to meet with the Knights and Dames and ask as many questions as you need. You will be assigned to a Preceptory in your geographical area and the Preceptor will contact you.

At the meeting you will be shown the Vows of a Postulant Knight, and if you are happy to proceed, your ceremony of Admission as a Postulant will take place at the soonest opportunity.

The Journey from Pilgrim to Templar takes about a year, which gives you time to get to know your Temple Brothers and Sisters and make sure this is the path for you, the Solemn Vows you make as a Templar are for Life!

Once the period of Postulancy has been served, and you are ready to commit to the life of a Temple Brother or Sister, a mantle with the OMCTH Cross will be made for you, and you will be formally admitted into the Order at a Templar Church surrounded by your fellow Knights and Dames and 900 years of history.
